Commission: Impulse – sensorial installations
Sensorial Tunnel & Sonic SeeSaw
Impulse was a project commissioned by Ribeirao Shooping – Brazil in 2018, contemplating a total of six interactive installations for public space.
Francisco Mazza was invited to develop conceptual ideas and produce the ambient sound for two installations: Sensual Tunnel and Sonic SeeSaw.
The Sensorial Tunnel soundtrack was developed using a multichannel 12.2 system (12 loudspeakers + 2 subs) attached on the structure of the tunnel. The sound was designed extracting specific frequencies of buddhist chants and meditation singing bows and recomposing them in constant movement thought the loudspeakers. An immersive sensorial experience suggesting the deceleration of the chronological time of consumption creating an alternative space for meditation and aesthetic exorcism.
The Sonic SeeSaw soundtrack was a collaboration between the sound artist Francisco Mazza the Brazilian percussionist and composer Amoy Ribas. The sonic seesaw installation is composed by 6 individual seesaws and the original music is activated by individual sensors when the seesaw starting moves, playing out and mixing individual parts of the musical arrangement or the completed arrangement if all of them are activated at the same time.
